TikTok banned in india and it's no longer available on Google and Apple stores

TikTok, a video-sharing app has been banned in India after Madras high court had asked the government to ban by saying it encouraged pornography and made child users vulnerable to sexual predators. Google and Apple have removed the Chinese internet firm Bytedance’s social media app TikTok from the Play Store and App Store by the directions of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology(India).

TikTok, which is very popular among teenagers, was unavailable to download from Apple play store and Google play store. Google and Apple removed it from their app stores late Tuesday.

The Bytedance’s, responding in a statement on Tuesday had said that it was confident its 120 million users would continue to use the platform. It had also said that it removed over 6 million videos that violated its ‘'Terms of Use and Community Guidelines', following a review of the content generated by its users in India. However, the company has not commented on the removal of the app from Google and Apple stores yet. 

Reasons behind the ban of TikTok in India

1. Man accidentally kills 19-year-old friend while filming the video for TikTok

Suhail Malik, the 24-year-old suspect arrested for the murder, claimed the shot was fired “accidentally” when they drove over an uneven stretch of the road while filming a video for the TikTok app.
Reports claim that the incident took place on the night of April 13 when the two were driving to India Gate when the reported accident happened.

2. Tamil Nadu students meet an accident making Tik Tok video

One college student from Tamil Nadu lost his life after accidentally ramming into a bus whereas riding on a scooter with 2 of his friends. The accident as it turns out was a consequence of the three trying to make a TikTok video while riding on a scooter.
The three, Surya, Reagan and Vignesh, were severely injured. They were sent to Thanjavur medical college hospital, where one of them died.

3. Nillu Nillu Tik Tok challenge results in clashes at Tirur 8 injured

In Dec 2018 The trending ‘Nillu Nillu’ challenge in Tik Tok app resulted in clashes at Tirur in Malappuram district. Eight persons including a woman sustained injuries in the conflict between locals and a group of students using cricket bats, stump, knives, and sticks.

4. A guy making Tiktok video Falls under own Tractor and brutally killed in Punjab

In Jan 2019 a young boy from Indian Punjab also tried to make the video of his stunt while working on the farm with the tractor. The tractor was moving on the farm, and he was trying to board on it, Unfortunately, he slipped, and the tractor’s heavy wheel crushed him badly, and he got chopped by the row crop tractor. He lost his life only for capturing a TikTok video.
